2019 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) highest scoring candidate Ezeunala Ekene Franklin has received a fully funded scholarship to study Computer Science and Mathematics at Columbia University, New York.
Ekene, a 17-year-old former student of Meiran Community Senior High School, Lagos, scored 347 during the 2019 UTME exam to become the best candidate.
He is part of the beneficiaries of the Thirty Opportunity Funds Program of the U.S. Consulate General in Lagos, which is aimed at funding some 30 high-achieving, low-income students with $4.35 million to attend American universities and colleges for the 2021/2022 academic session.

The lucky US-bound students are selected for 6 undergraduates, 3 masters and 21 doctoral academic programs including Neuroscience, Biomedical Engineering, Bioinformatics, Computer Science and Engineering.
