Nollywood actor Yul Chibuike Edochie have solicited for the participation of more women in decision making process in Nigeria.
According to him, men who seem to be more privileged and occupy more influential ‘positions of power’ have failed to judiciously discharge their duties.
He wrote on Instagram:
“We need more women in high positions of power. A lot of men have failed us.”

It’s quite strange that Nigeria, which claims to be Africa’s largest democracy has one of the lowest percentages of female political representatives on the continent.
According to a statistical analysis by International Parliamentary Union, women make up less than 6 percent of the Nigeria’s parliamentary system.
Those aspiring to become politicians often encounter a lack of support from a society that is conservative and patriarchal. Some have even experienced gender-based election harassment and violence.
