The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has revealed why they arrested the former Governor of Anambra State.
The EFCC on Thursday arrested former Anambra State Governor, Willie Obiano at the Murtala Muhammad International Airport Lagos.
According to the reports, Obiano was on his way out of the country to Houston, Texas in the United States before he was nabbed.
His arrest comes the same day he handed over power to Governor Charles Soludo.
The spokesperson of the anti-graft agency Wilson Uwajaren confirmed they arrested the former Governor and he currently in their office in Lagos state.

Speaking on why they arrested him, Uwujaren said that the former Governor has been on their watchlist for a long time but couldn’t arrest him because of his immunity.
” He’s been on our watchlists for sometime now. And when you are in our watchlist, it means we have to monitor your activities. We couldn’t arrest him because of his immunity and since he has lost his immunity and wanted to leave the country, we had no option but to arrest him.” Uwujaren said.
Is still unclear why Obiano is on the commission’s watchlists as of the time of filing this report.
This is coming hours after his wife, Ebelechukwu, got slapped at Soludo’s inauguration.
