Funke Akindele (Jenifa) spurred reactions from social media users when she said that her followers will make her win election.
Funke took a break from acting as she joined politics, she will be contesting as the running mate to Lagos State Governorship candidate, Dr. Abdul-Azeez Olajide Aderidan (Jandor) under the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

In an interview with Channels TV, Funke Akindele said that she has the number, and when asked for expectations, she replied that she has over 20 million followers on social media.
” I have the numbers. I have thousands of followers. I am true to myself,” she added.
Funke Akindele further stated that she has followers outside of Ikorodu and at the grassroots level.
