Forbes has released the 2020 list of highest paid athletes in the World.
Interestingly, Roger Federer emerged as the highest-paid athlete in the world with a whopping $106.3million (£86m), becoming the very first tennis player in history to top the list assembled by Forbes, since its inception in 1990.
Federer who was the world number five as of last year’s ranking became first ahead Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo, narrowly came second behind Federer, with earnings of about $105m, while Barcelona’s Messi dropped from first position in 2019 to the third spot with $104m.
The fourth and fifth position was occupied by Brazilian Neymar Jr. and basketball’s LeBron James respectively.
