Argentina maestro Lionel Messi has made himself the new king of South American football (CONMEBOL) after surpassing Pele’s goalscoring record.

The 34-year-old Paris Saint Germain star struck a fantastic hat trick in Argentina’s 3-0 defeated of Bolivia at the World Cup Qualifying game on Friday.

Those goals took his tally to 79, one ahead of Brazilian legend Pele in CONMEBOL goalscoring record. Messi is officially the highest goalscorer in South American football.
