In a video interview with DJ Zane Lowe of Apple Music, the Grammy-nominated singer said he selected Chris Martin so as to present an appealing message to the world.
He admitted that he recorded the song, but needed someone like the Chris to pass the message beyond his people in Nigeria.
“Basically something I wanted, I recorded the song and there was a space…” the two-time BET award winner said.
“In my mind I was like, there is only one person I could possibly think of to fit this, to bring out this message in a way that would have the balance, that would make it appealing to everyone else to understand, not just my people but the whole world to understand.
“And am thinking okay, only Chris Martin can do this. And we went on the hunt for Chris Martin,” he concluded.
