Super Eagles forward Henry Onyekuru has bid a final farewell to Galatasaray after his parent club, Monaco refused to grant the Turkish giant’s desire to extend his stay at the club.

According to Fanatik, the Turkish champions expressed their desire to sign Henry on a permanent deal from Monaco for a reported fee of around €8-€10m. But the request was turned down by the French club.

It is understood that Monaco’s new coach, Robert Moreno, has been a huge admirer of the Nigerian International since his Eupen days and he’s eager to have the pacy forward back at Stade Louis II.

The 23-year-old winger rejoined Galatasaray on loan in January after struggling for a regular playing time at Monaco.

His stay in Turkey was however cut short, following the suspension of the league due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Following the conclusion of his loan contract, Onyekuru took to Twitter to bid farewell to his teammates and staff, Galatasaray.

He wrote:

“I can’t thank @GalatasaraySK enough for the love during my second spell at the club. You are forever in my heart, until we meet again …Cimbom! “

Meanwhile, Henry scored 1 goal and made 3 assists in 12 appearances for Galatasaray in the 2019-2020 season. He was also helped the Lions to win the league title and Turkish Cup.
