A dramatic incident took place in Warri, Delta State, when a Sienna car driver engaged in a heated argument with a Vehicle Inspection Officer (VIO) named Papu Prosper during a patrol. The driver, whose name is being withheld, bit off Prosper’s ear during the altercation. The argument arose over expired car documents, near Eagle Roundabout, close to the Federal Government College in Warri.
According to Prosper’s account, he is a VIO and they were on patrol in Warri when they stopped a driver whose car documents had expired. As per instructions from his superior, Prosper was supposed to accompany the driver to their office in Warri to verify the validity of the documents. However, during the journey, the driver threatened to kill Prosper, accusing the VIO of causing trouble. The driver then brandished a dagger and attempted to harm Prosper.
To escape from the speeding vehicle, Prosper struggled and fought with the driver, resulting in the driver biting off Prosper’s ear. The driver then spat out Prosper’s severed ear onto the ground and fled the scene, leaving his vehicle behind. The VIO currently has custody of the Sienna.
Despite the ordeal, Prosper expressed gratitude to God for saving his life and appealed to the authorities to ensure that justice is served if the Sienna driver is apprehended. He emphasized the importance of the law taking appropriate action in this matter.
