Milan Skriniar, the captain of Slovakia’s national football team, will be departing from Inter Milan as a free agent in order to join Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), following confirmation of his departure by the Serie A club on Friday.
Inter expressed their appreciation for Skriniar’s six seasons of triumphs and achievements, signifying the end of his journey in the Inter jersey, through a brief statement. Skriniar’s contract with Inter will expire on Friday, granting him the freedom to transfer to the French champions, PSG.
During his tenure at Inter, the 28-year-old defender claimed several accolades, including the 2021 Serie A title, two Italian Cups, and two Italian Super Cups. Additionally, the team reached the final of the UEFA Champions League earlier this month, albeit ending as runners-up.
Skriniar has been absent from Inter’s lineup since March due to a spinal surgery he underwent in the subsequent month. As a result, he missed the thrilling conclusion of the season, which featured a victory over their city rivals, AC Milan, in the semi-finals of the Champions League.
Tensions between Skriniar and the club escalated at the beginning of the year. Inter was unable to sell him to PSG during the January transfer window, and subsequently, they stripped him of the captaincy in February after he declined to renew his contract.
