Michelle Alozie, a prominent player of the Super Falcons, clarified that Lauren James, the English and Chelsea women’s forward, didn’t directly contact her as some reports suggested.
Instead, James expressed remorse through a social media apology following an incident during the 2023 Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand. In a match against Nigeria in the round of 16, James received a red card for a stamp on Alozie, leading to her subsequent ban for two games by FIFA.
Alozie shared her perspective on Channels TV Sports Tonight, stating that James’ apology was limited to platforms like Twitter and Instagram.
