On August 14, 2024, Hauwa Yusuf, a 30-year-old woman from Katsina State, was arrested by the Special Tactical Squad (STS) along the Abuja-Kaduna Expressway. Yusuf was found transporting an AK-47 rifle and four AK magazines concealed inside a sack of garri. The arrest occurred during a routine stop-and-search operation.

According to Force spokesperson Muyiwa Adejobi, Yusuf was en route from Lafia, Nasarawa State, to Katsina when she was intercepted. During questioning, Yusuf revealed that the notorious bandit Aminu Basullube, active in Katsina State, had instructed her to collect the arms in Danum Madam Camp, Katsina.

Yusuf claimed ignorance about the firearm in the garri sack, stating she was only instructed to transport millet but received garri instead. She was paid ₦130,000 for the task, of which ₦15,000 was allocated for transport. Yusuf admitted her oversight but insisted she was unaware of the illegal contents.
