A good CV will boost your chance of having a face-to-face interview with your potential employer.

Your CV is like a personal marketing of your skills and abilities.

Your CV should standout, use eye-catching templates and layouts.

It should be adaptive, do not use one CV to apply for different jobs. Each CV should be tailored to a particular job.

In writing a good CV:

  • It should be concise and accurate, generally a CV should not exceed 2 pages, sometimes it can exceed based on the content.
  • Use good quality paper if you are submitting a hardcopy CV.
  • Use highlighted heading to create emphasis.
  • Use bullet points to drive attention
  • Make sure that your referees are well informed before using their names.
  • Add skills and experiences that you have gotten so far.
  • Use related skills e.g when applying for teaching job or teaching assistant, you can add to your CV, how you have worked with children or taken care of your younger ones or when applying as a business administrator, you may need to add your skill in computer literacy.
  • Teamwork and budgeting can be added as skills.
