United States President Donald Trump has condemned the massive mob attack on the Congress at the Capitol building on Wednesday, January 6, 2021.

In a video posted on his Twitter page on Thursday evening, the 74-year-old President expressed his grievances over the lawlessness and violent acts by the mob, describing it as an attack on American democracy.

Though, he didn’t anticipate that the demonstration would turn out to be violent, but Trump assured that he immediately deployed security men to secure the building and expel the intruders.

President Trump further stated that those involved in the violent acts will not go unpunished, because they broke the law. He also reassured that he will ensure a peaceful transfer of power to President-elect Joe Biden.

“To those who engaged in the acts violence and destruction, you do not represent our country, and to those who broke the law, you will pay,” he said.

“A new administration will be inaugurated on January 20th. My focus now turns to insuring a smooth, orderly and seamless transition of power. This moment calls for healing and reconciliation.”
