Former Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu has conditionally been released from jail on Tuesday, March 2, 2021.
Newsblenda reported of Bartomeu’s arrest by the Spanish police on Monday March 1. He was arrested for being part of the ‘Barcagate’ scandal during his reign as the club’s president, alongside three other officials of the club.
His arrest was part of a probe into allegations that the club carried out a defamation campaign against current and former players (including Messi, Xavi and Pep Guardiola), who were critical of Bartomeu.
