Report: ASUU agree to call off their 9 months strike

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has agreed to call off its eight-month strike following their successful negotiation with the Federal Government.

The academic body had their seventh meeting with FG representatives led by the Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr Chris Ngige, in Abuja, on Friday, to finalize talks to end the 9 months strike.

According to reports from Official_ASUU, both parties reached consensus during the meeting. The Federal Government pledged to increase the total payment to the union to N70 billion. Though ASUU still maintained that the payment of outstanding salaries of it’s members must not be done as through IPPIS platform as promised, if strike would be suspended.

FG had reportedly accepted the demand for the body to be exempted from the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS).

It’s now left to see if they will adhere to the agreement for ASUU to call off the strike.
