Newspaper columnist, Farooq Kperogi has warned Former Minister of Aviation Femi Fani-Kayode to withdraw his lawsuit against Daily Trust Newspaper.
Chief Fani-Kayode, on Tuesday, demanded the sum of N6billion and an apology from the national daily over an article by their public affairs analyst, which referred to him as a drug addict.
The former Minister claims the publication has done plenty of damage to his reputation.
But, Farooq an Associate Professor of Journalismthinks it is better for the Politician to “lick his wounds quietly and withdraw his threat against Daily Trust”. In a series of Twitter thread, he maintained that Fani-Kayode’s libel suit against Daily Trust was “needless self injury”.
He also said that whoever gave him such advice does not love him.
“Whoever advised Femi Fani-Kayode to sue Daily Trust over a scathingly unflattering opinion article that an occasional contributor to the paper’s opinion pages wrote about him doesn’t love him,” he wrote on Twitter.
“[He] will have a hard time winning a libel case. If the man is wise, he should just lick his wounds quietly and withdraw his threat against Daily Trust. It would hurt him more than it would help him.”
