Twitter Ban: Nigeria Loses Over N247.61bn In Just 100 Days

Nigeria has reportedly lost over N247.61bn since twitter activities was suspended.

Is now 100 days since the federal government of Nigeria banned the micro blogging platform (Twitter) in Nigeria and ever since then, the nation has lost N247.61bn.

Recall that the Federal Government through the minister of information, Lai Mohammed had on June 4 suspended Twitter after the social media platform deleted a genocide tweet by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Recently, the Presidency through the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, said it was close to an agreement with Twitter and would soon lift the ban.

Nigeria is a member of an exclusive list of countries such as China, Iran, and North Korea where Twitter is banned. Since the ban, the use of virtual private networks (VPN) has risen.
