This country presently is more corrupt than ever.
The country’s main opposition party, The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called for the commander in-chief President Muhammadu Buhari to step down over alleged corruption in federal agencies.
The call was made by the party’s national chairman Prince Uche Secondus on friday during an interactive session with journalists in Abuja.
In his words, Uche Secondus says that President Buhari has failed to keep to his 2015 and 2019 campaign promises of fighting corruption.
Secondus cited ongoing corruption investigations of the Niger Delta Development Commission, North-East Development Commission, Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and others, stating that Nigeria under Buhari’s watch was on a ventilator gasping for breath.
“Corruption and lack of good governance in our country is the cause of the insecurity, underdevelopment and the suffering of the masses. As a result, the economy has collapsed regardless of whichever way the government is carrying on with its propaganda.
“We can see the judgement from the international community, the Transparency International, has just endorsed that this country presently is more corrupt than ever and so where are we heading to?”
Buhari on Thursday evening returned from Bamako, Mali, after many hours of consultations and closed door meeting meant to mitigate political crisis in that country.
