Popular Nollywood actor and Senator, Desmond Elliot has made a strong statement as to why the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) of the Nigeria Police Force should be dissolved with immediate effect.
The 46-year-old politician gave his admonition during a plenary at the Lagos State House of Assembly on Friday, October 9, 2020. He pleaded with his colleagues to listen to the voices of the people, because SARS doesn’t seem to be working for their interest.
“If the unit we set up is not working for the people and the people are calling for it to be disbanded then let us do what they are saying,” he said.
“Because the truth is you can’t just arrest people along the road because of the hair they wear or they are carrying laptops.

He also inferred that the reason why SARS are acting the way they do, was as a result of lack of proper civic training.
“That is not to say we don’t have bad people, but yes because of the lack of training on how to deal civilly with people we now come to have what SARS is today,” he said.
“So, I am in alignment with the prayers of the deputy speaker and I feel that we should do that expeditiously,” he concluded
