A yet to be identified prison inmate who escaped during the recent jail break in Owerri Correctional Center, Imo State has unfortunately lost his life few days after the incidence.
Nigerian media outlet Sahara Reporters gathered that the prisoner, an indigen of Ogwa community in Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo State, was set ablaze after going back to threaten one of his relatives who allegedly testified against him in court.
He was allegedly set ablaze by the residents of his maternal home in Umuawom village, Ihodimeze community Ikeduru Imo State, on Wednesday 7, April.

According to the report, the fleeing inmate who was raised in his maternal home angrily tried to launch an attack on a member of his family after learning he was involved in his prosecution.
He was apprehended for having a hand in the kidnap of one of his relatives in Umuawom village.
It was gathered that villagers set him ablaze when he attempted to carry out his threat by attacking the man who testified against him with a gun.
