Nigeria Deputy Commissioner Of Police Abba Kyari, Declared Wanted By US Court Over Involvement In Hushpuppi’s Fraud Case
The United States of America has declared Abba kyari, Nigeria’s Deputy Commissioner of Police wanted over his role in serial internet fraudster, Ramon Abbas, more commonly Hushpuppi’s multi-million naira fraud probe.
This is coming days after Hushpuppi pleaded guilty to all the charges levelled against him by FBI.
According to Sahara Reporters, Otis Wright, in his capacity as a United States District George for the Central District of California ordered the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to track down Kyari and produce him in the United States for his role in a multi-million dollar fraud.
However, it was gathered that Hushpuppi in a confessional statement, narrated how he bribed Kyari to have one of his rivals arrested and jailed in Nigeria following a dispute over a $1.1million dupe of a Qatari businessperson.
Hushpuppi had asked Kyari to arrest and jail a fellow fraudster Kelly Chibuzor Vincent after both were locked in a dispute presumably over how to share the $1.1million loot received from the Qatari businessperson.
What’s next for Hushpuppi?
Reports going around the social media has it that Hushpuppi pleaded guilty because he was offered a plead deal.
According to the reports, Hushpuppi agreed today to plead guilty in federal court to conspiracy to engage in money laundering, of funds from business email compromise scams and other online heists.
The Gucci master agreed to laundering money from the Malta Bank heist and the BEC attacks on a Premier League club, another UK firm, and an American law firm, as well as additional schemes.
His plea agreement also involved crimes allegedly perpetrated by North Korean state sponsored hackers, was heavily redacted, and many of the filings in the case remain sealed.
He will be sentenced in the coming weeks and will forfeit some of his assets and his rights to appeal while also paying restitution to victims of his years-long fraud.
He’ll face up to 20 years in prison if found guilty as charged.
