Recent reports by Sahara Reporters indictes that gunmen suspected to be bandits on Thursday December 17, attacked the convoy of Major Sanusi Muhammad Asha, Emir of Kaura Namoda in Zamfara State, killing eight persons, including his uncle and three police officers.
According to the same report, the incident took place along Gusau-Funtua highway, when the Emir was on his way for an official function in Gusau.
A driver of a Hilux van in convoy, a senior guard to the monarch and one Dan Amal, who was an uncle to the Emir was allegedly killed during the vicious attack.

Sahara Reporters also alleged that calls put across to Mohammed Shehu, spokesman of the Zamfara State Police Command were not picked nor returned during the time of the attack.
Zamfara, has now join the growing list of Northern States that have witnessed an increase in terrorist and banditry attacks of recent.
