The Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Cui Jianchun, pledged on Monday that China would provide necessary assistance to the Federal Government led by President Bola Tinubu to foster the development of Nigeria. During a meeting with George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Jianchun assured Nigeria that his country would offer proven development strategies to improve the well-being of its citizens. In a statement by the Director of Information, Willie Bassey, it was mentioned that Jianchun presented three documents containing developmental strategies that Nigeria could adopt.
The statement stated, “While presenting three documents to the SGF, the Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Cui Jianchun, assured Nigeria of the commitment of the government of the People’s Republic of China to support the administration of Bola Tinubu with effective development strategies that would positively transform the country. The documents encompass a blueprint for the country’s development and will focus on areas such as infrastructure, ICT, industrialization investment, security, technology, and agriculture.”
Jianchun expressed his readiness and dedication to collaborating with the current administration in order to strengthen the bilateral relations between China and Nigeria.

In response, Akume assured the Chinese government of the Federal Government’s determination to enhance bilateral relations for the advancement of development. He acknowledged the strong bilateral relations between Nigeria and China in infrastructure, trade, agriculture, and other sectors. Akume urged the Chinese government to increase its investments in Nigeria to support the current administration in achieving its goals. He expressed gratitude for China’s investment in Nigerian infrastructure, particularly in rail and road transportation, and requested further investments.
Akume also thanked the Chinese government for granting scholarships to young Nigerians to study in China and appealed for more scholarships to enable more Nigerians to pursue education in China.
