Trying to get pregnant is a big waiting game. For some people, it’s their trying moment. You never can predict whether this is the month that the pregnancy test will turn positive.
Though getting pregnant is a natural phenomenon, there are things that can stand in your way of getting pregnant; it is yours to avoid them.

Habits that can prevent you from getting pregnant range from food, lifestyle, and entire well-being.

Here are things to avoid if you want to get pregnant.

1. Excess Alcohol

While it’s not really clear how alcohol can affect fertility, research suggests that consuming more than two drinks a day may decrease fertility rates and increase the time it takes for a couple to conceive. So when you’re trying for a baby, drink only occasionally. And avoid it altogether when you do become pregnant—no amount is considered safe once you have a baby in the womb.

2. Chronic Stress

Though it looks impossible to do away with all stress from our daily life, research states that the higher the perceived stress, the harder the time women had conceiving. Prolonged feelings of stress can bring along hormonal shifts that can impact ovulation and fertility. If you’re having trouble managing your stress, speak to your doctor about ways to cope, and explore complementary treatments like meditation.

3. Junk Food

Taking excess junk food will not help a woman who is trying to conceive.
There are certain foods, diets or supplements that will make you more fertile. Find foods like fruits, vegetables, healthy fats, and plant-based proteins.
A balanced diet will not only help you keep your weight in check, but it will also help regulate insulin levels—both of which will help step up your pregnancy chances.

4. Excessive Caffeine

Avoiding caffeine doesn’t mean that you have to completely cut out your morning drink routine, but you may want to consider cutting down on the number of cups you consume per day.
Though research findings vary, to be safe, stick to two cups or fewer each day. . Keep in mind that different types of coffee contain different amounts of caffeine. And tea, hot chocolate, energy drinks and certain sodas have caffeine too.
