A 50-year-old man named Mukhtar Ibrahim appeared before a Shari’a court in Kaduna on Wednesday to request the removal of his former wife, Sa’adatu Abdulhadi, from his residence. Mukhtar’s legal representative, Jamilu Sulaiman, also asked the court to validate the third divorce pronouncement he had issued to Sa’adatu.
Mukhtar stated, “I am also seeking custody of our four children because Sa’adatu lacks proper behavior. On one occasion, she even called her family members to physically assault me, resulting in injuries and bruises. I am currently living in fear for my life, unable to sleep peacefully as she refuses to leave the house.”
Although Sa’adatu was absent from the court proceedings, the court messenger confirmed that she had been served with the court summons.
The judge, Malam Isiyaku Abdulrahman, adjourned the case until July 10 to allow the defendant to respond to the accusations.
