Although an apartment can be great, it can be a nightmare if you have to deal with a troublesome neighbor. And it is very common to come across these kind of people wherever you choose to live, especially in some low-cost areas.
Some neighbors also deliberately look for trouble which makes it even more difficult to live with.
Bad neighbors can come in different shapes and sizes and can cause all sorts of troubles.
However, when dealing with bad neighbors, you don’t need to allow them to bully or disrupt your peace.
Here are ways to deal with a troublesome neighbor:
1. Set boundaries
It is always good to set boundaries whether they have expressed their nastiness from the onset or not. Don’t get too familiar or playful with them. Let them know what you can and cannot tolerate and you don’t have to be gentle or let things slide because when you are lenient, they would likely take you for granted and this will amplify their nasty behaviour.
2. Be a good example
If you are going to tell a neighbor to stop an act, then make sure you are not doing the same. Bad neighbors tend to hold on to the mistakes of others to justify their actions. Don’t give them any chance.

3. Try to talk things out first
You can take a step to talk out things, highlight the wrong things and also proffer practical suggestions on what they could do to get better and be less of a nuisance.
4. Call them to order
If talking things out doesn’t work, then call them to order. Always be expressive as much as you can.
5. Report to the landlord or agent in charge
At some point, calling the landlord or agent may be your next option. If issues are extreme enough, then the landlord needs to step in.
