The Ekiti State government raised an alarm on Saturday that the huge quantities of food items looted from the warehouses in Ado-Ekiti on Friday are poisonous.
The looters broke the ADP warehouse and the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) stores and made away with those items thinking they were Covid-19 palliatives.
But according to the statement by the state Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation, Akin Omole, majority of those items was laced with preservatives that are very harmful for human consumption.
Despite the warning by the government, some people still went ahead to consume some of those items. A certain young man took to Twitter to ask how long the poison would take before it starts working.
Posting a picture of his freshly prepared noodles, he wrote: “Please how long is it going to take the poison to start working bcuz I still dey kampe”
