Few hours after securing an important ticket for the upcoming African Women Championship, Nigeria’s women national team ‘Super Falcons’ were held hostage at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
The African Queens who should have received a hero’s welcome at their home country after beating Ivory Coast 1-0 to qualify for the tournament in Morocco, were shamelessly locked inside the airport over some silly Covid-19 protocols.

According to the team’s captain, Onome Ebi, the girls returned to the airport around 12:30, but were locked inside the airport facility without attention for over 5 hours. Some of the tired players were even seen lying on bare floor in a trending Instagram video.
