Manchester United defender Axel Tuanzebe Tuanzebe may face sanction by the football governing body FIFA, after he was captured wearing a wrist watch during Manchester United’s 2-1 Premier League loss against Leicester City on Tuesday evening.
Axel, a graduate of the Manchester United youth system had worn a smart wrist watch to the game without a proper check by the officials.
It is strictly forbidden under the law 4 of the IFAB (Council of the International Football Association), for a player to wear a watch during a match. Only referees and officials are authorized to do so.

“A player must not use equipment or wear anything dangerous, the law states.
“Any type of jewelry (necklaces, rings, bracelets …) is prohibited and must be removed. Cover jewelry with adhesive tape n ‘is not allowed. Players must be inspected before the start of the match, and substitutes before entering play. A player refusing to comply or handing over the article must be warned.”
Axel Tuanzebe should have been penalised by referee Craig Pawson during the game, according IFAB law stated above. But since he escaped the referee sanction, he may not escape that of FIFA.
Meanwhile, Manchester City won their 7th league title by virtue of Leicester’s win against United.
