Liverpool FC officially postpones the Football match with Arsenal over cases of Covid-19.
Liverpool FC in a tweet confirmed that an application has been submitted for the postponement of Thursday’s Carabaos cup semi-formal, first-leg tie with Arsenal due to an escalating number of suspected positive Covid-19 and players availability.
The football match which was scheduled for January 6 2022 will not be held as some players tested positive to Covid-19.
The postponement also came after Liverpool played 2-2 at Chelsea without Manager Jürgen Kloop and 3 other players- Alisson Becker, Roberto Firmino and Joel Matip after they tested positive to Covid-19.
The cases of Covid-19 within the squad also led to the cancellation of training on Tuesday.
According to a club statement, “The Reds have formally requested to the EFL that the fixture be rescheduled after further suspected positive tests were registered among players and staff, allied to other factors impacting selection, including illness and injury.
In addition, “today’s application to the EFL is the need for travelling supporters to be given as much notice as possible of any potential postponement.”
