English Premier League club Manchester United has confirmed that Mason Greenwood will not play or practice with the club until further notice after being accused of sexual assault by a woman.
The club made this known in an official statement on Sunday evening. “Mason Greenwood will not return to training or play matches until further notice,” United said.
This statement from the EPL giants follows after some videos, photographs and an audio recording that are no longer visible on a woman’s Instagram account, was brought up against the 20-year-old forward.
The club further made it known that it was “aware of images and allegations circulating on social media” and was looking to establish the facts. They also made it clear that “Manchester United does not condone violence of any kind.”
Meanwhile, the police are currently looking into the incident to obtain more information on the allegations. “Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances,” said Manchester Police.
At the time of this report, Greenwood has not responded after several hours the allegations were first posted.
