Lagos State Government in partnership with the Private sector set up 10 free viewing centres in Lagos State for AFCON 2021.
The government of Lagos State announced the establishment of 10 Football viewing centres in Lagos state. This is in the spirit of sportsmanship, to bring the on going tournament – African Cup of Nations closer to Lagos state residents.
The announcement was made by Lagos State sports commission’s Director of Public Relation- Titi Oshodi-Eko in a statement on Friday, 14 January 2021.
The Director of Public Relation noted that the viewing centres, were located at Teslim Balogun Stadium in Surulere, Campos Mini Stadium, Lagos Island; Abesan playground and Naval Yard Ajegunle.
Others are Bishop Aggrey Youth Centre, Mushin, Epe Recreation Centre, Italewa Ikorodu, Badagry Grammar School, Badagry, Agege Stadium Agege and Mobolaji Johnson Sports Center, Rowe Park, Yaba.
These centres had already been filled on Tuesday when Nigeria played against Egypt and eventually won.
According to Oshodi-Eko, the idea of private sectors partnering with the state government is to bring football closer to Lagos State residents.
“As part of this administration’s theme, the viewing centres will serve as an avenue to bring people together for a better world and this is what LSSC is doing with the AFCON viewing centres.”
” It is a place where people from different backgrounds will come together to watch live matches, have fun and enjoy themselves.” She added.
