Afrobeats star Ayra Starr, known for her hit song “Rush,” recently shared that she has never experienced love. In an interview with Dazed Magazine, the Grammy-nominated artist revealed that despite her reputation as a “lover girl,” she has never been in a committed relationship.
Starr, who appeared on the magazine’s latest cover, admitted that while she desires to fall in love, her busy life has kept her from fully exploring romance.
“I’ve written about love, like in my song ‘Lagos Love Story,’ but I’ve never truly been in love,” she said. Starr explained that although she has been in various situations, none have blossomed into serious relationships.

Having started working at 15, juggling modeling, university, and now a thriving music career, she believes her focus on her career has made it difficult to find time for love.
For now, Ayra Starr is enjoying her life as a young woman. She shared, “I’m just having fun. I’ll sing to a cute boy if I feel like it—why not?” The rising star remains hopeful for the day she’ll experience love for the first time.
