The Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, reportedly left the central Eid ground in Osogbo on Wednesday morning over poor seating arrangement, which prevented him from observing the two raka’at prayer.
At the same time, Senator Ajibola Basiru, a former Senate spokesperson, narrowly avoided being attacked by hooligans who tried to forcefully remove him from his seat.
The Senator and Chief Tunde Badmus, a prominent religious leader in the state, arrived at the Eid ground in the Oke-Baale area of the state capital and sat in the front row.
However, some politicians approached the Senator and informed him that he was occupying the Governor’s designated space. As a result, the Senator moved to another spot on the same row. However, they insisted that he should vacate the row for the Governor and his entourage.
The Senator, however, stood his ground and refused to move, leading to a controversy. Some hooligans then started causing a scene. Coincidentally, the Governor arrived at the Eid ground at that moment but was unable to leave his vehicle to take his seat.
Due to the situation, the Governor remained in his car and could not perform the two raka’at prayer. It was reported that an attempt to arrest the Senator was thwarted, and he left the ground with Chief Badmus after the prayer ceremony.
