Vitiligo is a condition where there are pale white patches on the skin. It is actually a long-term condition and is usually caused by lack of melanin; a pigment in the skin.

This condition can affect any part of the body but most commonly on the face, hands and neck.

2. Some people believe that vitiligo is a contagious disease. However, this is not true. It does not spread through close contact.

 

3. Other people believe that vitiligo is curable, however, this has not been ascertained. The treatment of vitiligo is quite difficult and slow, and not all patients respond to the treatment.

 

4. There’s a belief that people with vitiligo are less intelligent and are physically disabled. This is not true because vitiligo is exclusively a skin condition and has nothing/no connection with your brain or physical capabilities.
