A Nigerian gay rights activist who identified himself as Victor Emmanuel has decided to go on a lone protest against the Same Sex Marriage Prohibition Act (SSMPA), in front of the National Assembly.
According to him, the act which was put in place in 2013 by ex President Goodluck Jonathan, to prohibit the relationship between persons of the same sex, celebration of marriages and other LGBTQ related activities is not okay.

Victor also pointed out that it is unfair for gays to receive the same amount of punishment as those convicted for rape (14 years imprisonment). As a result he threatened to embark on a hunger strike everyday in front of the National Assembly, where the bill was approved.
He said unless the Same Sex Marriage Prohibition law is removed, he will continue to remain hungry and protest.
