The Wuhan Institute of Virology has finally responded to Claims by U.S. government that the current global pandemic was engineered and somehow released from the laboratory.
Earlier this month, U.S. President Donald Trump during his Covid-19 press briefing claimed that he has hard evidence that the novel coronavirus was developed by Wuhan Institute of Virology, he however assured that his administration is trying to figure out the best way to punish the communist nation.
Reacting to this accusations, director of Wuhan institute of Virology Wang Yany called Trump’s claims that Wuhan Lab was responsible for Covid-19 a “pure fabrication,”
While speaking with the state media on Sunday Wang Yany said that the institute did not have “any knowledge before that nor had we ever met, researched or kept the virus … We didn’t even know about the existence of the virus, so how could it be leaked from our lab when we didn’t have it?”
Trump claimed that the virus was somehow released from the laboratory after it was first detected, he also faults the world health organization (WHO) for not handling the pandemic with some level of seriousness at the time it was first being reported.
On 15th April, Trump administration blocked U.S. fundings to WHO, accusing them of being China best ally and also for its inability to share timely information about the coronavirus outbreak.
Just last week Trump in a letter posted on twitter threatened to permanently cut off WHO from U.S. funding if they failed to improve within 30 days, stating that WHO has been politicized and needs to improvement.
“It is clear the repeated missteps by you and your organization in responding to the pandemic have been extremely costly for the world. The only way forward for the World Health Organization is if it can actually demonstrate independence from China,” Trump said in the letter. “If the World Health Organization does not commit to major substantive improvements within the next 30 days, I will make my temporary freeze of United States funding to the World Health Organization permanent and reconsider our membership in the organization,” he said.
