The 54-persons Board of Governors for The Academy of Motion picture Arts and Science has concluded the punishment for Will Smith who slapped Chris Rock during the 94th Oscars telecast for making a joke about his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith.
At the end of the meeting, Smith gets a 10-year ban from all Academy events including the Oscars.
Will Smith who had already resigned from the Academy last week replied to the statement by saying; ” I accept and respect the Academy’s decision.”

In the Statement issued by the Academy, The 94th Oscars was meant to be a celebration of individuals who had done incredible works this past year, however, the moment was taken over by unacceptable behavior of Smith.
The Academy’s ASLO apologized go not addressing the situation in the room, which was supposed to be a good time to do to set an example to all connect to the 94th Oscars. For the Academy, the situation was unprepared for and unprecedented.
The Academy also expressed gratitude to Chris Rock for maintaining composure under the circumstance and also thanked everyone present for “poise and grace” during the telecast.
Meanwhile, the organization does not have many options to impose on Will Smith since he had already tendered his deactivated membership with the Academy.

Still on the ban, Will Smith’s resignation and the ban do not preclude him from being nominated for future Academic awards.
