Australia pledges more support to assist Ukraine

The Prime Minister of Australia, Scott Morrison has stated that Australia is Developing a further humanitarian package to help Ukrainians fight against Russia’s invasion.

 

This is following the earlier pledge of assisting Ukraine with “non-lethal” weapons. But on Sunday, Morrison said the government would ensure that the financial support for NATO would provide “letal aid.”

According to the Prime Minister, “The Australian government will continue to stand up for what is right when it comes to Ukraine,” he said after a peace vigil at St Andrew’s Ukrainian Church.

“We are already providing significant support in terms of non-lethal aid but I’ve just spoken to the Defence Minister and we’ll be seeking to provide whatever support we can for lethal aid through our NATO partners, particularly the United States and the United Kingdom.

He expressed his concern at Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, for him, it is a gross violation to International Law and the United Nation Charter.

Morrison also disclosed his worries about an escalation that could occur beyond the borders.
