A video showing where Mali’s interim president Assimi Goita, was attacked by a man with knife during their Eid al-Adha prayer, has gone viral on the internet.
Reports has it that the attacker came with some other armed men to assassinate the president, but the were swiftly intercepted and apprehended by the security men.

According to Mali’s minister of religious affairs Mamadou Kone, the assailants injured someone else instead of the president.

Meanwhile, Goita emerged as Mali’s transitional President, following the country’s second coup in less than a year.
The attempt on his life came as a result of the political unrest in the country as a result of the jihadist insurgency which has claimed many lives in the country.
