The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the development via his verified Twitter handle, @BenHundeyin on Wednesday morning.

He tweeted, Somewhere in Idiaraba this morning, some individuals got angry that an ATM ran out of cash and set fire to the machine. The nearest police patrol was dispatched to the scene. Fire has been put out, the crowd put under control and normal banking activities have resumed

Hundeyin who didn’t name the affected bank said the fire has been put off and banking activity resumed at the bank.

Recall that there have been several protests in some parts of the country over the current Naira redesign policy of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) that saw the old N500, and N1000 notes cease being legal tender.
