For the federal university undergraduates here, it would be bad to spend the entire three months strike without achieving anything. So here it is, three things you should do this before the strike ends.
One month of the strike has gone already, and we’ve just entered the two months of continued strike action.
The most annoying thing in all these is that as FG and ASUU are battling each other, your time as students is running fast!
How have you been spending the strike? Wasting away the whole time? Learning new skills? Working to make some money?
How you choose to use this strike period is up to you but hear our suggestion.
1. Build connection: school is stressful no doubt. So most of you have lost touch with bosom friends and acquaintances because of your too-busy schedule. This strike is a great time to reconnect with them.
Meet up with lost contacts and renew the relationship. Meet new people and forge new relationships. The truth is that in a country like ours, it’s hardly a matter of what you know. It’s more of who you know.
And who knows, the person you meet today might be the one to connect you to that dream contract.
2. Find genuine ways to make money: find jobs around you no matter how menial and save up every money you make.
If you have any digital skills, great, it’s time to earn from it. Learn new skills if you wish but make sure it’s something you won’t abandon halfway.
You can choose to invest whatever money you make in a business or use it for expenses when school resumes. I hope you don’t plan on depending on your parents for long.
3. Make out time for cruise and flexings: don’t raise your brow, life is not all about being too serious, you know.
Give yourself a good treat once in a while. Go on dates and expose your mind to better conditioning. Attend seminars but make sure you’re going to implement what you learn. That’s the most important.
You all are not called Great Nigerian students for nothing. Make great use of this period. ASUU is on strike but time isn’t.
