Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey’s First Tweet Sold for $2.9 Million—And He Donated Proceeds To Charity
Twitter founder and CEO Jack Dorsey has reportedly sold his first ever tweet for $2.9 million.
Jack’s first ever tweet which was published in 2006 was sold via an auction on the platform Valuables, which allows users to sell autographed versions of their tweets as an NFT.
Jack announced his intention to offset the tweet in early March and has since received so many offers from interested buyers from all the world.
And on Monday 22nd March, the tweet which reads; “just setting up my twttr,” was purchased by Sina Estavi, the CEO of blockchain company Bridge Oracle at the rate of $2,915,835.47.
The most amazing thing about this whole transaction is that all the money realized from the sale of this tweet was donated to charity.
Dorsey said he donated $2,915,835.47 from the sale to GiveDirectly, an organization sending cash to poor families in Africa impacted by Covid-19.
