The Nigerian Communications Commission NCC has issued a two weeks ultimatum for all SIM card users to re-register with the National Identity Numbers (NIN), or get blocked.

This was disclosed in a recent post by the Personal Assistant to the President on New Media Bashir Ahmad.

He wrote:

“The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has given telecommunications operators (MTN, Glo, Airtel, 9Mobile and others) in the country two weeks to block all SIM cards that are not registered with the National Identity Numbers (NIN), the Commission has said in a statement.”

According to Mr. Ahmad, the recent order by the Commission was established in order to curtail and checkmate the lingering security challenges in some part of the country.

This simply implies that if you previously registered your SIM card without the NIN number, you’ll have to do it again in less than two weeks.
