The Anambra State Government has initiated an investigation into the alleged murder of Mrs. Ogechukwu Okafor, reportedly killed by her husband, Pastor Elijah Emeka Ibeabuchi. The incident, which occurred on August 13, 2024, in Nimo, Njikoka Local Government Area, was brought to the attention of the Ministry of Women’s Affairs and Social Welfare by the deceased’s family.
According to a statement from the ministry’s media aide, Chidimma Ikeanyionwu, the victim’s uncle, Mr. Samuel Onuorah, raised concerns after receiving a suspicious call from Ibeabuchi, who claimed Ogechukwu died from a fall. However, after visiting the mortuary, the family discovered stab wounds on her neck and chest, contradicting the pastor’s account.
