Official: Villarreal appoints former Arsenal coach
Spanish LaLiga side Villarreal CF have confirmed the appointment of former Arsenal head coach Unai Emery as their new manager on a three-year deal.
Various sources including Villarreal’s and LaLiga official website has confirmed the appointment of Emery at the Yellow Submarine.
The Spanish International has been out of managerial duty since he got sacked by Arsenal in November 2018.
Former Villarreal coach Javier Calleja left the club last week. With European football secured, the path was cleared for Unai Emery to return to Spanish football after a few years away.
The 48-year-old gaffer is well acquainted with the Spanish League having had several stints with Almeria, Valencia and Sevilla.
He also has a wealth of experience in the Europa League, having won it three times with Sevilla.
The Yellow Submarine have had an agreement with the Spaniard for some time and had waited to make an official announcement until the end of the season.
