Guiness World Record (GWR) has issued an official statement concerning Hilda Baci’s attempt to surpass a World Record.
Nigerian culinary expert, Hilda Effiong Bassey, famously known as Hilda Baci, allegedly broke the Guinness World Record for the “longest cooking marathon by a person”.
The Chef, on Monday morning, crushed the 87 hours 45 minutes record set by previous Guinness Worldwide best holder, Lata Tondon.
After achieving this incredible feat, fans on social media kept asking why GWR has refused to acknowledge her effort. One of them asked: “Why is @GWR not showing or talking about Hilda’s cook-a-ton? Can’t see anything on their pages (Twitter, Facebook, YouTube)”
In response to their curiosity, Guiness World Record issued the statement:
“We’re aware of this amazing record attempt, we need to review all the evidence first before officially confirming a record.”

Hilda launched into the competition on Thursday at precisely 4pm when she put on her cooker. Despite the fact that Hilda has broken the record, she still plans to cook for 96 hours and become the first person in history to cook for that long.
