Two fighters belonging to the IPOB/ESN group were eliminated and five others were apprehended by a joint operation consisting of the Nigerian Army’s 63 Brigade, the Nigeria Police, and the Department of State Services. The operation occurred in the general area of Fuji Junction in Asaba, Delta state.
According to a statement from Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, the Director of Army Public Relations, the joint troops promptly responded to distress calls reporting an attack by the terrorists on the community. During the fierce exchange, two of the terrorists were killed, while the remaining members escaped to a hideout near the Okpanam river.
The pursuing troops successfully tracked them down to a house in that area and apprehended them. Additionally, the troops seized weapons and equipment, including an AK 47 rifle, a pump-action semi-automatic rifle, ammunition, a rifle magazine, and a Baofeng radio receiver.
The public is encouraged to continue supporting security agencies by providing useful information to combat security challenges. Major General Taoreed Lagbaja, the Chief of Army Staff, commended the joint troops for their efforts and urged them to maintain their collaboration to restore peace and calm in the region.
