A 40-year-old woman in Jigawa State tragically ended her life by setting herself ablaze after a divorce from her husband. The incident took place in Garin Mallam village, Guri Local Government Area, on Thursday morning.
According to the Jigawa State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Lawan Shiisu, the woman poured petrol on herself and ignited the flames, resulting in her death. Officers from the Guri Divisional Police Headquarters confirmed the incident after arriving at the scene. Her charred body was later taken to the hospital before being released to her family for burial.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the woman had been battling depression since her divorce, which ultimately led to this tragic decision. Jigawa State Commissioner of Police, Ahmadu Abdullahi, urged the public to seek spiritual guidance and counseling in difficult situations, advising against such irreversible actions.
He emphasized the importance of turning to elders for advice when faced with challenging life circumstances.
